- The Problem: On a modern laptop, Audition 1.5 might not see your built-in sound card at all, or it will try to use the Windows MME drivers, resulting in high latency (lag).
- The Fix (ASIO4ALL): To get professional performance out of 1.5 on a modern PC, you need to install a wrapper driver like ASIO4ALL. This generic driver allows legacy software to communicate efficiently with modern hardware. Once installed, open Audition's Audio Hardware Setup and select ASIO4ALL as the driver.
If you encounter issues with old script collections, open the Scripts dialog Run as Administrator (Windows 10/11): Right-click Setup
Latency: Adjust the latency setting (often recommended at 30) for better real-time performance. Modern Compatibility (Windows 10/11)
Workflow 2: Virtual Audio Cable + VLC
- Play MP4 in VLC with audio routed to a virtual cable (VB-Cable).
- Set Audition 1.5 to record from that virtual cable.
- Record in real-time (works, but slow).
