1.27 - Gta V Ps3 Update
Grand Theft Auto V Title Update 1.27 (also known as the "Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1" update) was released on June 10, 2015. For the PlayStation 3, this update brought new luxury content to both Story Mode and GTA Online, along with significant gameplay rebalancing and technical fixes. New Luxury Content
The Good (What worked in 1.27)
- Mission Payouts: Contact missions (Rooftop Rumble, Coveted) were still paying out $18,750 – $25,000. Update 1.27 did not nerf these yet. This was the golden era of grinding.
- Lobby Stability: Because this was post-Heists, the netcode was surprisingly stable. You could actually complete a 4-hour session without a "Timed out locating session" error.
- No Shark Card Pressure: The Zentorno cost $725k, which felt fair. Rockstar hadn’t yet introduced the multi-million dollar yachts or the Oppressor. Grinding felt rewarding.
Method 2: USB Manual Install (For CFW users)
Many PS3 users now run Custom Firmware (CFW). You can find the PKG file for update 1.27 online. gta v ps3 update 1.27
- Mod Menus: On the PS3, the modding scene is dead on 1.36. Mod menus specifically work on 1.27 because the encryption was cracked back in 2014. If you want to fly UFOs or spawn money, you need 1.27 (and a jailbroken console).
- Performance Tuning: Some players argue 1.27 ran smoother than 1.36 because 1.36 added the "Ill-Gotten Gains" yachts and the "Lowriders" hydraulics, which literally melted the PS3’s RSX graphics chip.
- No Online Check: If you block PSN updates, version 1.27 allows you to play Story Mode with 100% completion without Rockstar’s social club nagging.
were added, allowing players to drink champagne and smoke cigars while flying. Weaponry & Rebalancing Combat PDW : A new personal defense weapon added to Ammu-Nation Buffs & Nerfs Grand Theft Auto V Title Update 1
The Bad (The PS3 technical struggles)
- Pop-in Galore: Driving the new Zentorno at top speed down the Los Santos Freeway? Expect buildings to render as grey polygons for 2 seconds.
- The "1.27 HUD Glitch": A specific bug in this update caused the weapon wheel to flicker if you had more than $100 million in the bank (a common occurrence due to the 1.26 money glitches).
- Installation Hell: Many physical disc owners reported that Update 1.27 would freeze at 14% or 49% during installation. Fixing this required deleting your Game Data Utility (not saves) and reinstalling the entire 8GB base game + 1.27.
