Part I: The Foundations (1971–1979) – The Birth of “El Divo de Juárez”

Before the rhinestones and the sold-out Palacio de Bellas Artes, Juan Gabriel was a struggling orphan from Ciudad Juárez. His first albums are raw, romantic, and heavily indebted to the Mexican trío romántico tradition and the burgeoning balada style.

In his final years, Juan Gabriel staged a massive commercial comeback with his Los Dúo series (2015-2016). These albums reimagined his greatest hits as duets with contemporary stars like Juanes, Marc Anthony, and J Balvin. These projects proved the timelessness of his catalog, introducing his music to a digital-native generation and ensuring his discography remained at the top of the charts even after his passing in 2016.
