How to Verify It’s Working

• Open joy.cpl (USB Game Controllers) from the Run dialog.
• Select the SideWinder and hit Properties.
• Go to the Test tab.
• Crucial test: Grip the stick firmly and let go. It should violently recenter. Move the stick around – you should feel constant, smooth spring tension. If it flops around like a dead fish, the driver didn't install correctly.

Force install the native Windows driver:
