What does work?
The Oppo A9 is compatible with Project Treble and Generic System Images (GSIs). Since it shipped with Android 9, it supports Treble. This means you can flash a "generic" ROM designed to run on any Treble-compatible device. Go to Wipe → Format Data → Type "yes"
