Skirmish vs. AI

This is where the crack shines. The Warlord system is entirely client-side. You can capture the eight unique Warlords (including the brutal Genghis Khan and the cunning Qin Shi Huang) without issue. The only missing feature is the "Leaderboards" for the Skirmish Trail, which are server-dependent.

The Cons & Limitations

  1. No Multiplayer: The crack disables online functionality. You cannot co-op campaign or play siege PvP. Stronghold Warlords is primarily single-player, so for many, this is negligible, but it removes the "Skirmish mode" against human players via Steamworks.
  2. No Warlords Challenges: The daily/weekly challenges tied to the Steam leaderboards are disabled. You will never unlock the cosmetic flags or historical battle bonuses that require server verification.
  3. Bug Fix Lag: While the CODEX version includes the day one patch, subsequent major patches (v1.1 "Emerald City," v1.3 "Murasaki") are not included. You must find a separate update or repack (e.g., Stronghold Warlords v1.3-CODEX), which is rarely released.
