Zbrush Cheap License May 2026

The landscape for a "cheap" ZBrush license has shifted significantly since Maxon’s acquisition of Pixologic. As of early 2026

Student Alumni Grace Period

If you used a student email to get a free license, Maxon gives you a 6-month grace period after graduation where you can buy the full commercial license at 40% off. Set a calendar reminder for this; it is the only time you will see a major discount on the perpetual commercial license.

If you are currently a student or a teacher at an accredited institution, you can access a massive discount through Maxon One or a dedicated ZBrush student license. zbrush cheap license

Maxon One Student & Teacher License: This is the most affordable way to access ZBrush. Verified students and faculty can get the entire Maxon One suite (ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Redshift, etc.) for a very low administrative fee (usually around $10–$20 for six months) through Kivuto/OnTheHub.

The Current Reality: Subscription Only

Maxon has moved ZBrush to a subscription model. As of now, there are two official price tiers: The landscape for a "cheap" ZBrush license has

3. Nomad Sculpt (Mobile & iPad)

Price: $14.99 (one-time purchase). If you own an iPad or Android tablet, Nomad Sculpt is the single greatest "cheap license" in 3D art history. It does nearly everything ZBrush does (voxel remeshing, dynamic subdivision, painting) on a touch screen. Verdict: Many professional sculptors now block out their models on Nomad during their commute and finish in ZBrush at home.

With ZBrush now costing ~$39/month on a monthly plan, many hobbyists are moving toward Blender, which is entirely free and has rapidly improving sculpting tools. If you are a professional focused on hyper-realistic characters, ZBrush's ability to handle up to 1 billion polygons remains unmatched. Cost: $300 - $450 (used)
